Week 7 of the Earring Challenge

This week I wanted to add a little wire wrapping to my idea and I had hoops on the brain. So I worked out a design incorporating three hoops into one creating a frame to wrap wire around. I liked the frame all by its self and was temped just to stop there, but curiosity and the desire to see my original plan through kept me tinkering. I am very happy with the end results.

This week’s earrings are sterling silver hoops with sterling ear posts and backs. I used a simple basket weave of silver plated copper wire and threaded small freshwater pearls around the earrings.

Week 5 of the Earring Challenge

This has been a very busy week for us. I got it into my head that I needed to finally donate or sell some of my daughter’s old things. So I found myself sorting, hanging and tagging clothes till the early morning hours Tuesday. Once that was all done I picked up my sketch book and went to work. With this week’s set of earrings I hope to start a series of similar pieces. I really enjoy these little earrings. They are sterling silver with a liver of sulfur patina.

Week 4 of the Earring Challenge

This week sadly began with sickness. The entire family has come down with something but the three of us are happily recovering today. I have found myself trying to catch up on my earring challenge. So I have simplified my design this week.

These earrings are pierced copper with a colored pencil finish that has been sealed in a gloss. They also have handmade sterling silver ear wires.
